Pulp architecture
Of course this is all styling rather than design, but it is remarkable for its seemingly limitless willingness to turn banal spaces into theaters, just for the effect and beyond any semblance of moderation.
A certain naïveté is combined with grand gestures to arrive at the absurd. A sales office for apartment blocks looks like a strange alien spaceship, a workout studio like a computer game, and a seafood restaurant resembles a giant lab-grown fungus culture. This might even become a genre in itself.
Notable examples:
Mansion On Cloud, a showroom for a property developer
酷搏健身, a bodybuilding and workout place by design studio Cun
Yunxi and Yuntu, Chinese restaurants
Dongguan Machong Sales Center, a showroom for a property developer
