Brooklyn artist Alex Katz (born 1927) is arguably one of the most prolific artists alive. Although the New York art world was swept up by the abstract expressionism of Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning when he was studying art in the 1950s, Katz has been insisting on figurative painting throughout his working life. His somewhat stern, cool-casual style is unmistakably Katz. Here are some of his works on show until January 6th, 2013 at Sammlung Essl in Austria.
