Ghia Gilda
Chrysler’s executive Virgil Exner commissioned the Gilda showcar in 1955. It was designed by designer Giovanni Savonuzzi for Carrozzeria Ghia in Torino. Giovanni Savonuzzi named the car after Rita Hayworth’s unforgettable performance as Gilda. The car debuted as a showcar at the Salone di Torino of 1955, later touring around Europe, then the US. The shape was finalized in the wind tunnel at the Politecnico di Torino.
