Raimund Johann Abraham was born in Lienz, Austria. He studied architecture at Technical University Graz and established an architectural studio in Vienna in 1959. In 1964 he moved to the United States. He taught at Rhode Island School of Design and, from 1971, at Cooper Union and Pratt Institute. In 2003 he became a visiting faculty member at the Southern California Institute of Architecture. His work is based on the balance between dream and reality, utopia and irony. He designed structures to be placed in the moon and wanted to drill the planet with Radar Cities. "Dwelling in the suburbs of dreams" was the guideline of Abraham's most interesting housing projects in the 1970s, including the "10 Houses", "9 Houses Triptych", "Seven Gates to Eden" and "House with Projected Landscapes".
