Caran d´Ache - Maison de Haute Ecriture - is celebrating its 100th birth year in 2015. Established in 1915 in Geneva, the company has been producing a range of graphite pencils, coloured pencils, crayons, pens and even luxury accessories. However, good old graphite, or lead pencils remain its top selling product.

Its color pencils have been packaged with different names for various purposes: The Luminace is lightfast and permanent; the Museum Aquarelle is water colour in the shape of pencils; Prismalo Aquarelle is water-soluble.

“I always describe the production process like a restaurant,” says Caran d’Ache’s Eric Vitus, “The quality of the final product depends on the quality of the raw material…. You need to have good raw materials and good practices.”
