A penccil project is a webpage with text and images. You can also add links, embed Youtube and Vimeo videos, and embed Soundcloud tracks.

To make a penccil project, click Project from your top bar. Then drag and drop images (photos, graphics, paintings, renderings or drawings in JPG, PNG or GIF formats), type a title and description, and save.

To explain individual images, type image captions.

You can choose from 3 different layouts for your projects: gallery, collage, and big picture. Type tags to make it easier for others to find your project.

To change a project, hover over a project in your homepage and click the gearwheel icon. Alternatively, click Project from your top bar, then click the gearwheel icon on the top right. You can change every aspect of your project including title, description, layout, posting destination and tags. You can also hide or delete individual images or change their order by dragging them. To delete a penccil project, click delete. You cannot undo a delete action.

To embed Youtube videos, Vimeo videos, or Soundcloud tracks, just paste their URLs in the description box when you make a project.

To add external links, just type or paste their URLs in the description box when you make a project.

To make your projects better visible, type tags to describe their content.

To promote projects on Google, Twitter, LinkedIn, VKontakte, Weibo or Facebook, click the respective share button in a posted project. To link to a penccil project from your personal blog, click the bar right below the Share buttons to copy the URL of the project to your clipboard.

A penccil Inspiration is a collection of projects for a defined topic.

To place a project in an Inspiration, open an Inspiration first, then choose it as the posting destination when you make a project.

To collect projects, contribute to them. Click any image in a posted project, then add a note or add a sketch. Every project you have contributed to will appear in your Collection.

To add notes or sketches, click any image in a posted project.

To add a note to an image, choose the image on the bottom scroller, then type a text into the text box on the tool menu and hit enter. To save the note, drag the note to a suitable place.

To add a sketch, click the sketch icon on the tool menu. Choose a pen size, color and shape, then add sketches.

You can always change the text of notes or undo sketches.

In penccil, collaborating, contributing and collecting are all managed through one unified interface. Click any image in a posted project, then place notes or add sketches. When another member is online at the same time as you, you will see his notes and sketches added in realtime, and he will see your notes and sketches added in realtime. That way you can easily collaborate on projects.

Kudos is the contributions you get from other members. Get Kudos by posting interesting projects. Increase the visibility of your projects by adding tags when you post projects.

To get Kudos, go to the homepages of other members and click the invite button on your top bar to invite them to your projects. You can check your sent invitations through Mail/Sent on your top bar.

To get to the homepages of other members, click their names in the title screen of posted projects.

To contact other members, go to their homepages, then click the Invite button on your top bar to invite them to your projects. You can check your sent invitations in Mail/Sent on your top bar.

You can send mail to every member who has contributed to one of your projects. Click Mail on your top bar, then Compose message to see all members who have contributed. Choose whom you want to send a message to, type a subject and message, then click Send. You can check your sent messages in Mail/Sent.

To complete your profile, click Profile in your top bar. Add a profile image by dropping it into the drop area (just square format JPGs are allowed as profile picture). Add information about you in the About me and My interests fields.

To change your profile, click Profile in your top bar. Add a different profile image by dropping it into the drop area (just square format JPGs are allowed). You can change the information about you in the About me and My interests fields, and you can update your name, your email, and your password.
